Where XMP hides
XMP travels as an APP1 segment with the namespace marker ns.adobe.com/xap inside JPEGs, and as XMP packets (or plain text chunks) in PNG and WebP containers. Because it is extensible, every vendor invents its own fields — which is exactly why platforms treat unknown rich metadata as an AI signal.
Typical fields removed
- Prompt text, negative prompts, sampler and scheduler names
- Seed values, checkpoint and LoRA references
- Lightroom develop settings and edit histories
- Creator tools, versions and document IDs
