What C2PA looks like in a file
C2PA data lives inside JUMBF containers: APP11 segments in JPEGs, dedicated boxes in PNG/WebP-compatible formats. Signatures chain back through a certificate manifest describing each generation and edit event. Platforms don’t verify much of it for labeling — presence alone is often enough to trigger “AI Info”.
Removal approach
The cleaner drops every APP11/JUMBF segment and any chunk carrying credential manifests, then re-scans the output to confirm nothing survived. JPEG entropy data (your actual pixels) is copied untouched.
Honest limits
Newer cameras may re-sign at capture; screenshots and re-encodes shed credentials naturally. And removing provenance doesn’t exempt you from disclosure duties where the law requires them — read the disclaimer and use responsibly on files you own.
