How to Calculate

Break-Even Units = Fixed Costs / (Price per Unit - Variable Cost per Unit)

Divide total fixed costs by the contribution margin (selling price minus variable cost per unit).

Worked Example

Fixed costs: £10,000, Price: £25, Variable cost: £10 → Break-even: 10000 / (25-10) = 667 units.
